Job Summary
The Assistant Controller supports the financial operations of Piedmont Health Services by assisting with accounting oversight, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, budgeting, and audit preparation. This role will have direct supervisory responsibility for designated finance staff and requires ensuring GAAP compliance, HRSA requirements, and nonprofit accounting standards while partnering with the Controller and leadership to maintain sound fiscal management for the nonprofit healthcare system.
Required Qualifications
- BS/BA Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), strongly preferred
- 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
- Experience with grants management (HRSA grants preferred)
- Fund accounting, single audits, and federal compliance experience
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Experience in healthcare, nonprofit, CHC or FQHC environments strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
- Proficient with accounting systems (e.g., MIP Fund Accounting, Sage Fixed Assets, PlanSource)
- Knowledge of HRSA/FQHC financial compliance requirements
- Understanding of federal grant management and Uniform Guidance regulations
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel and financial management systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Immunizations up-to-date before employment
