Job Summary
Assistant Controller at Hawks Cay Resort in Marathon, FL oversees financial reporting and analysis, general ledger maintenance and reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls and compliance with GAAP and tax regulations, audits, accounts payable/receivable, cash management, and supervises accounting staff. Utilizes hotel accounting systems (Delphi, Opera, or similar) to streamline processes, supports financial modeling and capital expenditure tracking, and collaborates with department heads across the resort. Requires 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance (CPA/CMA preferred), strong GAAP knowledge, advanced Excel, and excellent analytical and communication skills. Must live in or relocate to the Florida Keys; flexible month-end support and valid driver’s license are expected. Education and experience emphasize hotel/resort hospitality context; relocation housing assistance available where noted.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or CMA preferred
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
- at least 2 years in a supervisory or Assistant Controller role
- Hotel or resort hospitality experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls
- Proficiency with hotel accounting systems (Delphi, Opera, or similar) and Excel
