Job Summary
Lead and oversee accounting operations for a prestigious financial institution as Assistant Controller. Responsibilities include managing period-end close, overseeing the general ledger and journal entries, maintaining the reconciliation framework across balance sheet accounts, reviewing activity across loans, deposits, investments, fixed assets, and other core categories, ensuring subledger integrity and GL integration, preparing monthly internal financial reporting with meaningful management insights, supporting SOX internal controls and remediation, partnering with Treasury/Credit/Operations/Risk on financial instrument accounting, overseeing lease accounting processes, consolidating subsidiaries, and driving process improvements. Also responsible for system governance for GL configuration, coordinating with internal and external auditors, and mentoring accounting staff. Requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, 7-10 years of accounting experience with leadership, and strong Excel/GL tool proficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience with including financial close and general ledger oversight
- Team management experience
- Banking and/or public accounting experience highly preferred
- Advanced knowledge of Excel and experience with PeopleSoft GL and IBS is highly preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Organized, detail- and deadline-oriented
- Ability to plan and prioritize
- Self-motivated
