Assistant Construction Project Manager

Job Summary

Create proposals for Request for Proposal offerings, evaluate quotes against bid documents, and qualify vendor submissions to identify scope duplications or exclusions. Scan and file all subcontracts, quotes, and project documents within 24 hours of receipt, while maintaining historical cost records for preliminary estimates. Directly prepare detailed quantity take-offs, assign market cost factors, and draft or negotiate written scopes of work for subcontractors and material suppliers. Collaborate with the construction team to negotiate project awards and verify that all subcontracts and purchase orders are entered for active projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Have the necessary experience and knowledge to estimate all types of projects
  • Knowledge of building codes that are applicable to scope of work
  • Strong technical expertise in all aspects of building construction, including all general trades, plumbing trades, mechanical trades and electrical trades, with an emphasis on energy efficiency and lean construction techniques
  • Exceptional knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards
  • Ability to read & interpret blueprints and specifications
  • Proficient use of computer and estimating software
  • Conceptual estimating: Able to establish budgets for projects from early schematics
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail and cost analysis
  • Must communicate well (written, verbal, and electronically) with clients, all levels of company staff, subcontracted vendors, and design professionals
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and follow – through skills
  • Flexibility, winning spirit/attitude, tolerance for change
