Job Summary
Manage the project commissioning team, providing guidance and training to ensure efficient execution of testing and commissioning activities for utility-scale solar, battery storage, and high voltage substation projects. Report daily on project status, review technical and regulatory requirements, and develop project-specific commissioning plans, milestone lists, and procedures. Coordinate with OEM suppliers, engineering, and construction teams to align activities, while managing pre-commissioning, cold, warm, and hot commissioning tests including synchronization and functional testing. Perform switching activities, develop switching plans and LOTO procedures, and identify corrective actions for technical issues. Prepare daily commissioning reports, monitor timelines and resources, and maintain lessons learned and warranty tracking logs. Ensure all activities comply with industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in testing and commissioning on utility scale electrical systems
- Strong knowledge of electrical power systems, inverters, transformers, and electrical infrastructure
- Proven experience managing project teams and coordinating with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations
- Knowledge and commissioning of Utility scale solar, battery storage, and high voltage substations
- Knowledge and experience with HV and MV switching operations, and equipment grounding
- Knowledge and experience with the management and application of site lock-out / tag-out (LOTO) safety program procedures
- Knowledge and experience with substation protection and control (P&C) systems
- Knowledge of Fiber installation and test requirements
- SCADA system understanding, testing, and commissioning requirements
- DC systems architecture and testing requirements
- Knowledgeable in National Fire Protection Association/National Electrical Code (NFPA/NEC) standards, and IEEE/IES/API Standards
- NETA and IEEE standards related to utility scale solar generation, i.e. Transformers, MV and LV cabling, grounding, and solar specific component testing
- Understands the commercial performance of power plants
- A working knowledge of NERC compliance standards along with ISO and TSO testing and operational requirements
- Familiarity with DCS / SCADA control systems and methods for utility scale generation

Desired Qualifications
