Job Summary
Assist the head coach in managing and directing the program, including practices, player instruction, game preparation, competing, and scheduling. Coordinate travel arrangements and handle paperwork processing. Support recruiting efforts by contacting prospective student-athletes, evaluating high school and junior college players, and maintaining accurate records and databases on the NCAA Compliance Assistant program. Collaborate with athletic department personnel, attend meetings, and represent the university positively with the community, alumni, coaches, media, and the public. Adhere strictly to Walsh University policy, procedure, and NCAA II compliance legislation and conference rules. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and the Vice President for Athletics/Athletic Director.
Required Qualifications
- Must demonstrate an understanding the Walsh University Statement of Faith and a commitment to support the Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University in accordance with Ex Corde Ecclesiae and the Catholic intellectual tradition
- Bachelors' degree
- At least 3 years' experience in the sport of Swim/Dive, including playing and/or coaching
- Other significant experience relative to coaching and/or the administration of an intercollegiate athletics program
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty
- Positive attitude
- Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Word, Excel, Outlook
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Frequent districtwide and statewide travel
- Frequent prolonged and irregular hours
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
- Hear and understand speech at normal levels, indoor and on the telephone
- Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly
- Physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height
- Ability to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead
- Must be able to handle and communicate over loud noises in gymnasium, event space; whistles, crowd noise; yelling and screaming
