Assistant Coach, Sports Performance

Job Summary
Design and implement strength training and conditioning programs in-season, off-season, and pre-season for all Queens University sanctioned athletic programs using research-driven practices. Supervise training sessions, evaluate athletes, and maintain athlete records while collaborating with sport coaches to determine specific needs. Work with sports medicine or athletic training staff to rehabilitate injured athletes and consult on rehabilitation plans. Maintain the strength and conditioning facility and establish policies and procedures for safe, professional operation in accordance with NCAA, NSCA, and inter-departmental standards. Develop systems for tracking attendance and progress, conduct annual needs analyses and risk management reviews, and complete annual budget proposals. Oversee the development of professional interns. This role requires regular evening and weekend work and reports directly to the Director of Sports Performance.
Required Qualifications
- A current relevant professional certification credentialed by the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist® (CSCS®) certification or CSCCa Strength (SCCC)
- Current standard first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications
- A strong working knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training
- Experience and/or expertise in strength and conditioning programming for NCAA collegiate athletes
- Strong motivational abilities to leverage in working with student athletes
- Evidence of ability to interact positively with student athletes, colleagues, and the public
- Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by student athletes
- Ability to visually monitor and evaluate athletes' physical health and fitness
- Knowledge of conference and NCAA rules and regulations
- Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
- Proven track record of consistently modeling positive behaviors at all times
- Strong follow-up and follow-through skills as well as ability to plan, organize and control projects through to completion
- Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver's license, or ability to attain same by hire date
- Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be able and willing to regularly work evenings and weekends to achieve objectives of the position
