Job Summary

Coach individual participants in cheer skills necessary for excellent achievement, enforce discipline and sportsmanship, and establish penalties for breaches of standards. Provide necessary documents for squads, assist with tryouts, and fill in as a substitute coach in classes and activities as needed. Attend a minimum of 2-3 practices per week and assist with summer camp preparation and fundraising organization. Maintain competency in rules, rule interpretations, meet procedures, and coaching techniques while adhering to established performance criteria for eligibility. Develop a consistent public communications procedure and supervise students in cheer programs.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid teaching certificate
  • Courses in coaching theory
  • Experience in coaching
  • First-aid certification
  • CPR certification
  • Sports medicine knowledge
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of students or employees of the district
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Qualities of leadership

  • Spirit of cooperation in working with staff and school administration
  • Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community
