Job Summary
Plan, organize, and direct the girls varsity volleyball program; instruct and demonstrate skills for individual and team development; ensure team rules and eligibility are communicated and followed; plan and conduct tryouts, inform Athletic Department of selections, and maintain integrity of the selection process; coordinate off-season training programs with the Athletic Director (summer camps/practices, uniform fitting, parent meetings); create a safe learning environment; supervise athletes during practices and transport to games; model sportsmanship and professional conduct; complete required safety training (NFHS Learn, SafeSchools) including mandated reporter, bloodborne pathogens, concussion awareness, heat illness prevention, CPR/First Aid certification; training requirements at time of hire include Fundamentals of Coaching or equivalent certificate.
Required Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years of High School or Club Volleyball coaching experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- Valid CA license (Class C) and current insurance coverage
- Safe driving record (DMV report)
- Ability to follow and uphold KIPP San Jose Collegiate policies and mission
- Familiarity with rules and regulations of the sport coached
- Positive working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, students, parents, and community
- Ability to manage a class professionally
- Flexible, reliable, punctual, professional, enthusiastic
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (email/phone)
- Access to reliable transportation in the Bay Area
- Ability to work independently and with a small team
- Ability to coach athletes of different skill levels
- Coaching responsibilities: plan, organize, direct team; instruct and demonstrate skills; enforce conduct and eligibility; organize tryouts; coordinate with Athletic Director; safety training requirements
