Job Summary
Assistant Coach for Girls Varsity Volleyball at KIPP San Jose Collegiate. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and directing the team; instructing and demonstrating skill sets for individual and team development; communicating team rules and eligibility; coordinating tryouts; coordinating with Athletic Director on off-season training, camps, and schedules; creating a safe, conducive learning environment; supervising athletes during practices and transportation; modeling sportsmanship; completing required safety training (NFHS Learn, SafeSchools) and maintaining professional relationships with students, parents, and staff. Requires 2-3 years coaching experience, high school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's preferred), CA Class C license and insurance, and reliable transportation; compensation is $19/hour for a 164-hour season (PART-TIME, Seasonal, non-exempt).
Required Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years of High School or Club Volleyball coaching experience
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- Valid CA license (Class C) and current insurance coverage
- Safe driving record (DMV report)
- Ability to follow and uphold policies and mission of KIPP San Jose Collegiate
- Familiarity with rules/regulations of assigned sports
- Ability to establish positive relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, students, parents, and community members
- Ability to manage a class professionally
- Flexible, reliable, punctual, professional and enthusiastic
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (email/phone)
- Access to reliable transportation throughout the Bay Area
- Ability to work independently and within a small team
- Ability to coach athletes of different skill levels
- Coaching responsibilities: plan, organize, direct team; instruct and demonstrate skill sets; manage tryouts; communicate rules and eligibility; oversee off-season training; ensure safety and learning environment
- Safety training requirements: NFHS Learn, CPR/First Aid, mandated reporter, etc.
