Job Summary
Conduct daily team operations, athlete development, and strength training sessions for the club powerlifting program. Provide instruction on powerlifting techniques including squat, bench press, and deadlift mechanics while monitoring progress and tracking performance improvements. Assist with competition preparation, meet planning, weigh-ins, and warm-up procedures, traveling to select events as needed. Support recruiting, onboarding, and retention efforts alongside administrative responsibilities like scheduling and equipment organization. Work evenings and occasional weekends primarily, reporting to the Head Coach and Campus Recreation staff. Maintain a safe, inclusive team culture that promotes sportsmanship and accountability in alignment with university policies.
Required Qualifications
- Previous competitive powerlifting experience
- Coaching experience
- Strong knowledge of powerlifting techniques
- Strong knowledge of programming
- Strong knowledge of competition rules
- Ability to effectively communicate with and motivate student-athletes
- Commitment to athlete safety and development
- Ability to work evenings
- Ability to work occasional weekends
Desired Qualifications
- Collegiate coaching experience
- Experience coaching athletes with varying skill levels
- Experience preparing athletes for USAPL, USPA, or similar powerlifting competitions
- CPR/AED certification
- Ability to obtain CPR/AED certification
