Job Summary
Oversee operation, repair, and maintenance of the Vancouver General Hospital Energy Centre and Campus Utility Systems. Plan, schedule, and implement daily, annual, and preventative maintenance programs. Review safe work procedures, provide recommendations on progressive training, and maintain records while performing skilled hands-on engineering duties. Maintain expertise in electrical systems, welding, machining, pipefitting, steam fitting, and millwrighting. This role requires a 2nd Class Power Engineer certificate and seven years of related experience. Candidates must communicate effectively, interpret blueprints, and possess the physical ability to operate equipment and supervise teams.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a recognized program in power engineering
- seven (7) years' recent, related experience
- Certificate of competency as a 2nd Class Power Engineer
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Ability to supervise
- Must be able to complete a Criminal Records Review Check
- Must report past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections
