Job Summary
Assistant Chemical Engineer in Argonne's Chemical Engineering research team, joining a division focused on nuclear fuel recycling, molten salt-based technologies, and nuclear waste management. Responsibilities include synthesizing alloy and glass-based materials (including radioactive materials) using high-temperature furnaces, conducting laboratory tests in glovebox facilities, calibrating and maintaining equipment (radiological gloveboxes and fume hoods), recording data and performing calculations, contributing to defined workscope and project deliverables, and applying chemical/metallurgical concepts. Requires BS degree in materials science or chemical engineering with 0-3 years of practical laboratory experience, ability to work with standard laboratory devices, and U.S. citizenship. Strong communication skills and alignment with Argonne’s core values (Impact, Safety, Respect, Integrity, Teamwork) are expected.
