Job Summary
The Assistant Carpenter will assist the Head Carpenter in the Opera House and Harvey Theater, supporting carpentry and rigging for performances and rehearsals. Responsibilities include loading and managing materials, supervising rigging work, ensuring safety standards, collaborating with production staff, and maintaining a diverse workforce. This position requires 7 years of experience in theatrical carpentry and rigging, knowledge of manual and automated fly systems, and ETCP Certification within 364 days of hire. Candidates must possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- 7 years' experience working in related theatre/stage work in carpentry and rigging departments
- Experience and knowledge of theatrical and arena rigging and operating manual or automated fly system
- Experience and knowledge of theatrical and scenic carpentry
- ETCP Entertainment Theater and Arena Rigging Certification within 364 days of hire date
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge or expertise with Autocad and/or Vectorworks
Additional Requirements
- If not currently a member, the selected candidate will be required to join IATSE Local 4
