Job Summary
Assistant Broker to support Binding Authority Underwriters by reviewing applications, inspection reports, and other pertinent information to evaluate risk and determine amount of insurance. Reviews documents to assess factors such as financial standing, age, occupation, accident experience, and property condition; collaborates with underwriters to ensure complete applications, accurate quotes, and timely policy issuance; issues and re-issues certificates of insurance; coordinates with internal and external departments to resolve questions and outstanding items; assists in training personnel and reviewing indications, quotes, binders, and submissions for completeness; maintains proper documentation in files and systems; requires or prefers a P&C license and an educational background in insurance or accounting.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED (minimum)
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in an insurance or accounting related discipline (preferred)
- 1–2 years experience in a similar position
- Working towards or holds valid P&C license (preferred)
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
- Excellent telephone demeanor
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
