Job Summary
Assistant Branch Manager oversees a single branch, supervising a team of sales and service professionals to achieve branch production and operations quality goals while delivering exceptional member service. Responsibilities include training and coaching staff, driving member growth through opening/servicing accounts and originating/closing home equity, auto, personal, and credit card loans, cross-selling products, participating in promotions/community events, acting as manager in the Branch Manager’s absence, supporting other branches as needed, and ensuring compliance with banking regulations. The role requires strong sales, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, along with readiness to complete mortgage originator licensing and Notary duties, and availability for evenings, weekends, and up to 50% travel. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and banking software is expected, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, integrity, and customer service.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; will consider experience in lieu of degree
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in retail banking or in a Credit Union; 3 years of management and sales experience a plus
- Knowledge of federal and state banking laws, regulations and compliance; extensive knowledge of banking and lending products and services
- Excellent sales, problem solving and communication skills; ability to prioritize and multitask; strong analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to successfully complete the registration process as a mortgage loan originator (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS); Notary public designation required within 90 days of employment
- Must be available to work evenings and on weekends; travel up to 50%
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); familiarity with banking and lending software
- NMLS Certification; Notary Public; State of CT Individual Producer License (Credit Insurance)
- Must be able to promote a positive work atmosphere and adhere to company policies and procedures
