Assistant Branch Manager

Job Summary

Manage branch operations and associates to ensure sales, growth, and profit objectives while delegating authority and maintaining overall accountability. Lead the team in providing superior service, completing required reporting, and adhering to operational procedures for account and lending functions. Oversee facilities, security controls, audits, and staffing needs, including hires, terminations, and performance appraisals. Coach associates on product knowledge, member needs, and cross-sell opportunities, while assisting with initial quality control assessments for loan and account documentation. Support the Branch Manager in business development, community involvement, and system testing, assuming full supervisory responsibility during absences.

Required Qualifications

  • Exceptional knowledge of banking/credit union operations and sales leadership
  • Strong grasp of branch operations
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, schedule, and direct staff
  • Ability to express self honestly, positively, and professionally in both oral and written communication
  • Ability to interact professionally and positively with Members and staff at all levels
  • Keen sense of ownership and responsibility for branch sales and operations
  • Strong ability to motivate staff and cultivate a collaborative organization
  • Ability to clearly communicate credit union strategies, mission, and vision
  • Two to four years of financial institution experience
  • Experience preferably in a credit union
  • One to two years of supervisory experience

Desired Qualifications

  • College degree in a business-related field
  • Equivalent of three to five years of financial institution experience
  • Strong curriculum of specific credit union and general business courses in a continuing education setting
  • Attendance of credit union industry seminars, workshops, and conventions
  • Passion for helping people
