ASSISTANT BOYS WATER POLO COACH - HIGH SCHOOL

Job Summary
Conduct daily water polo practice sessions, teaching fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training while enforcing safety precautions and sportsmanship. Supervise student-athletes in outdoor fields, indoor courts, gyms, and swimming pools, managing equipment issuance, inventory, and cleaning. Act as a liaison between parents and the head coach, monitoring eligibility, injuries, and transportation logistics. Maintain accurate records in FinalForms and attend district athletic meetings. Requires a high school diploma, three years of assistant coaching experience, First Aid, CPR, AED, and Red Cross safety training. Fall 2026 season; stipend position with no release time.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Minimum of three years of experience as an assistant coach
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- Knowledge of building, South Kitsap School District, South Puget Sound League and WIAA policies, regulations, procedures and guidelines
- Knowledge of effective coaching practices/techniques for the particular sport
- Ability to comply with WIAA coaching standards
- Ability to motivate students
- Ability to exercise fairness in dealing with student-athletes
- Ability to always conduct oneself in an ethical and exemplary manner
- Ability to maintain poise and composure during practice and games
- Ability to relate to student-athletes of differing athletic abilities
- Ability to establish and maintain effective work and student-athlete relationships with a variety of people in a multi-cultural, diverse socio-economic setting
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate athletic activities
- Ability to set-up and maintain accurate records and files
- First Aid Certificate
- CPR card
- AED training
- Red Cross Safety Training or Lifeguard certification

- Verified water polo coaching experience at another school district
