Job Summary

Assistant Banquet Manager assists the Director of Banquets and Catering in operating meetings and events to deliver a first-class banquet experience. Responsibilities include captaining events, supervising personnel, ensuring BOH/FOH areas are clean and properly decorated, interviewing and training employees, preparing employee work schedules, and serving as the liaison between client and staff to convey event goals. The role involves coordinating with Food and Beverage Directors and kitchen staff on menus and service timing, supervising banquet service staff (servers, bartenders, house attendants), managing event timing and post-function cleanup, scheduling and task assignments, ensuring safety and sanitation compliance, inspecting service areas and table settings, and contributing to profitability through cost controls. Requires weekend/evening/holiday availability, strong organizational skills, cash handling capability, and proficient use of POS/Sales & Catering systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years as banquet captain in a high volume, upscale 4 star/4 diamond or equivalent property
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a fast-paced atmosphere
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, POS systems; ability to count, read and write English
  • Physical ability to lift 30 pounds+, frequent standing and walking
  • Functional knowledge of food techniques for preparation and review
