Job Summary
Prevent, treat, and rehabilitate athletic injuries for Pomona-Pitzer varsity student-athletes while providing medical coverage for practices and games. Document injury reports and progress notes, administer insurance claims, and offer counseling and education to athletes. Oversee student employees and interns in the Sports Medicine Department, collaborating with coaches to support the Colleges' strategic interests. This full-time exempt role in Claremont, CA, requires a Master's degree and NATABOC certification, with regular hours varying due to team needs and extensive weekend availability.
Required Qualifications
- Certification from the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC)
- CPR/AED
- Master's degree
- Experience at an academic institution
- Residency in California
- Ability to work extensive evening and weekend hours and holidays
- Travel
- Deploy professional skills in athletics first aid, injury prevention and rehabilitation, and athletics training
- Effective, accurate, and clear communication with excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, reading, phone, customer service, and leadership skills
- Proficiency in operating computers with basic Microsoft Office software (such as Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Patience, discretion, good judgment, courtesy, and tact
- Ability to prioritize and perform multiple projects/tasks, meet deadlines/timelines, respond to others in a timely manner
- Exceptional/strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work with prolonged standing, sitting, kneeling, and stooping
