Job Summary
Distribute and collect medical papers for student-athletes, monitor pre-existing health conditions, and assist in decisions regarding participation. Provide full-time coverage for assigned sports during games, practices, and travel, while consulting on equipment purchases and protective devices. Supervise athletic training students as an ACI-approved preceptor and assist in formulating treatment and rehabilitation plans. Coordinate with the Business Office regarding insurance claims for injuries and guide athletes on seeking physician referrals.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- Complete of a Master's Entry-level CAATE approved program
- Certification by the American Red Cross in first and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Minimum of one year of BOC certification
- Skilled in the use of a personal computer and Microsoft Office Suite
- Good knowledge of the principles and practices of health care for intercollegiate student-athletes
- Good knowledge of the health care policies of Loras College, the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the NCAA Division III
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, faculty, subordinates, student-athletes and general public
- Able to use all related medical equipment
- Ability to solve problems effectively
- Ability to act in a self-confident manner to facilitate completion of a work assignment or to defend a position or idea
- Ability to provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas
- Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word
