Job Summary
Tenure-track to tenure-professional pathway for Assistant/Associate Professor of English and Department Chair. Teach across traditional in-person, blended (hybrid), and online formats (5-5 load for 9-month tenure-track; 4-4 for 10-month Chair). Responsibilities include teaching, advising/mentoring students, recruiting/retaining majors, maintaining records, participating in ceremonies, and collaborating to develop and assess program and student learning outcomes; chair duties include supervising faculty, shared governance, curriculum development, and continual program assessment; requires leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills, commitment to diversity, and active research agenda. Demonstrated record of scholarly achievement and potential for program development are preferred; the position is located at Talladega College in Talladega, Alabama, USA, with duties spanning in-person, hybrid, and online modalities.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline
- evidence of successful teaching at the collegiate level
- demonstrated ability to work effectively with students and faculty from diverse backgrounds
- strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- ability to oversee all aspects of the department, related curricula, and degree programs
