Assistant Area Supervisor - Industrial Construction

Job Summary

Manage designated field construction activities by supervising subcontractors and employees to ensure projects are built on time, within budget, and safely. Coordinate all parties including owners, authorities, and suppliers to achieve timely project completion. Review project estimates, arrange vendors, and set up site conditions while confirming materials comply with contract specifications. Direct field personnel, attend daily progress meetings, and conduct safety walkthroughs to maintain a secure environment. Update cost reports and finalize closeout processes to settle financial obligations. Build relationships with customers and fill communication gaps between US and Japanese manufacturers. Work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as directed to meet deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or higher in Construction Management, construction / manufacturing related engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the industrial/construction field
  • Working knowledge of construction contract language and terms
  • Ability to make decisions under tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail in all aspects of the job
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to organize people, tools, and equipment and plan/manage multiple activities to accomplish desired results
  • Working knowledge of and ability to apply OSHA safety standards
  • Commitment to quality by evaluating project-related processes and making necessary changes, using customer input to make improvements, and meeting or exceeding internal and external customer expectations
  • Proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook)
  • Skills for reporting such as daily logs, monthly reports, etc. as well as clarification and update of progress reports
  • Ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required by the company's safety policies and as required for weather conditions
  • Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and possible holidays as directed by Area Manager and project schedule to meet the customers' deadlines
  • Ability to move to other projected work geographic locations, if necessary

Desired Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or higher in Construction Management, construction / manufacturing related engineering, or a related field preferred especially for civil & building work for factory construction, or a combination of experience and education
  • Industrial construction or/and mechanical installation experience preferred
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures
