Job Summary
Assistant Afterschool Group Leader needed to support Youth Group Leaders with supervising a group of children in a state-licensed out-of-school time program. Responsibilities include implementing developmentally appropriate activities aligned with YMCA values, supporting remote academic learning when applicable, ensuring safety and cleanliness per YMCA and EEC standards, attending staff meetings and training, and contributing to DEIB efforts. Occasional participation in special events and emergency response (first aid/CPR) duties. Requires assisting in guiding clubs and enrichment activities and maintaining positive relations with parents and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children preferred
- Ability to assist in providing direct care to school-age children while reinforcing health and safety guidelines
- Ability to assist in supporting children with their distance learning assignments being done remotely at the YMCA
- Ability to assist in guiding structured Clubs and enrichment activities
- Committing to support and further our anti-racist work as an organization
- Learning about our initiatives and being able to vocalize with members if needed
- Child CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and training within 30 days of hire date
- EEC training/registration prior to hire date
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
