Job Summary
Coordinate practice planning, skill development, and game strategies for the 9th grade boys basketball team while mentoring student-athletes and enforcing district and state association rules. Assist the head coach in developing off-season programs, supervising all practices, and assessing individual player performance for feedback and team placement. Teach athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship while maintaining student-athlete medical files and equipment inventory. Adhere to injury prevention procedures, safety policies, and the Professional Code of Ethics, including responding to emergency situations and resolving conduct violations.
Required Qualifications
- Valid coaching license through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners or the ability to obtain it prior to the start of the season
- Strong knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, instruct, and supervise students athletes and a coaching staff
- Ability to work under pressure and remain calm
- Previous experience coaching, preferred
