Job Summary
Coordinate news teams, resources, and logistics to ensure major stories are covered during shifts by establishing priorities and assigning news units. Organize the news gathering team's duties, collaborate on article ideas, and respond quickly to breaking news by identifying events and matching them with appropriate reporters. Manage multiple priorities under time pressure while organizing live field workers and choppers to deliver accurate, timely content across traditional and digital platforms. Requires 4+ years of assignment desk experience in a television newsroom, with a Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Communication preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Assignment desk experience in a television newsroom - 4+ years
- Must be open to travel to discover the important stories in your neighborhood and willing to interact with the community
- Ability to work different shifts or longer shifts due to breaking news and severe weather emergencies
- Willing and able to work weekends and holidays
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Communication or comparable television work experience preferred
