Job Summary
Assignment Desk Editor for NBC4 & KVEA52 in a duopoly environment. Responsible for coordinating the teams around news stories, establishing a network of contacts and sources across the Los Angeles DMA, dispatching crews, coordinating reporters and field personnel, setting up live remotes, and contributing to editorial decisions. Requires breaking stories, developing enterprise story ideas with reporters/producers, facilitating planning meetings, and ensuring timely coverage. Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications and 4+ years’ broadcast news experience, including 2+ years as an Assignment Editor. Proficiency with Microsoft Office; bilingual Spanish/English is preferred. Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and overnights; must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States. On-site, full-time position in Los Angeles with NBCUniversal benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or Communications
- At least 4 years’ experience including work in a broadcast news environment, coordinating assignments, generating story ideas
- Two years’ experience as an Assignment Editor
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
