Job Summary
Conduct daily asset protection duties by using surveillance techniques and investigative tools to identify theft, dishonest activity, and shortage trends. Partner with store teams and law enforcement to support investigations, recover stolen merchandise, and maintain compliance with legal standards for apprehensions and evidence preservation. Apply de-escalation tools to ensure a safe environment for customers and colleagues while preparing clear documentation, statements, and reports for audits and legal proceedings. Testify in court for criminal and civil cases as needed, and train colleagues on asset protection protocols. This full-time role at Macy's Plaza Bonita requires a current New York State Security Guard License and involves prolonged periods of standing, walking, and potentially apprehending shoplifters.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to observe, identify, and respond to suspicious activity in a retail environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with customers, colleagues, leaders, and law enforcement
- Ability to use sound judgment, de-escalation tools, and company procedures to support a safe environment
- Ability to handle proprietary, sensitive, and confidential information with discretion and integrity
- For jobs in New York, a current New York State Security Guard License
- Must be able to apprehend shoplifters
- Ability to sustain long periods of time enclosed in surveillance areas
- Frequently lift/move up to 30lbs
- Requires close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
- All schedules contain weekend shifts as part of the requirements
Desired Qualifications
