Job Summary
Use surveillance techniques to identify and apprehend individuals who shoplift or act dishonestly, while recovering stolen merchandise and preparing reports on theft incidents and audits. Leverage de-escalation tools to ensure a safe environment for customers and colleagues, and maintain strict compliance with laws regarding apprehensions, searches, and evidence preservation. Build partnerships with store teams and law enforcement agencies, testify in court for criminal and civil cases, and train colleagues on asset protection protocols. Respond to alarm conditions, work on special assignments, and facilitate first aid as needed. Full-time colleagues work 30+ hours per week with weekend shifts, while part-time colleagues work 12-24 hours. A current New York State Security Guard License is required for jobs in New York.
Required Qualifications
- Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays with regular, dependable attendance and punctuality
- A resourceful self-starter who can adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers
- Enjoy working as part of a team, as well as independently
- Obtain and maintain required licenses, trainings, and certifications
- For jobs in New York, a current New York State Security Guard License is required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Walking, standing for extended periods; bursts of quick movement
- Apprehension of subjects in accordance with company policy
- Requires hearing, close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
- Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching above eye level
- Ability to spend long periods of time in enclosed areas
- Lifting and moving items up to 30 pounds
- All schedules contain weekend shifts as part of the requirements
