Asset Protection Detective, Fayette Mall - Part Time

Job Summary
Conduct surveillance, investigate theft, and apprehend shoplifters using investigative tools and reporting systems. Partner with store teams and law enforcement to recover merchandise, prepare documentation for legal proceedings, and testify in court when needed. Apply de-escalation techniques to maintain safety while responding to alarm calls and supporting special assignments. Train colleagues on asset protection protocols and shortage reduction strategies. Maintain compliance with company policies and legal standards regarding searches and evidence preservation. Requires a New York State Security Guard License for New York positions.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to observe, identify, and respond to suspicious activity in a retail environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with customers, colleagues, leaders, and law enforcement
- Ability to use sound judgment, de-escalation tools, and company procedures to support a safe environment
- Ability to handle proprietary, sensitive, and confidential information with discretion and integrity
- For jobs in New York, a current New York State Security Guard License
- Ability to apprehend shoplifters
- Ability to sustain long periods of time enclosed in surveillance areas
- Frequently lift/move up to 30lbs
- Requires close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
- All schedules contain weekend shifts as part of the requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in retail, customer service, asset protection, security, investigations, or law enforcement
- Ability to prepare accurate reports, statements, and documentation related to incidents and investigations
- Experience using surveillance systems, reporting tools, or investigative technology
- Ability to train or coach colleagues on asset protection protocols, shortage reduction, or safety practices
