Job Summary
Train, educate, and supervise Asset Protection staff on detecting and preventing theft while supporting store sales efforts. Develop programs to prevent theft among customers and employees, and participate in orientation and ongoing training for surveillance and alarm systems. Respond to customer and associate incidents to facilitate first aid and minimize liability, then recover stolen merchandise and apprehend shoplifters. Investigate criminal violations and prepare reports for theft incidents, audits, and other assigned activities. Maintain strict compliance with laws and company policies regarding apprehensions and evidence preservation, and develop relationships with local law enforcement. Conduct audits to ensure sales department compliance with merchandise exposure standards and respond to alarm conditions. Testify in court as summoned and work on special assignments directed by the Store AP/LP Manager.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years related experience
- Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers
- Resourceful self-starter, works well independently as well as part of a team, and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities
- Ability to work a flexible schedule with retail hours, including day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays
- Obtain and maintain required licenses, trainings, and certifications
- For jobs in New York, a current New York State Security Guard License
- Must be able to apprehend shoplifters
- Ability to sustain long periods of time enclosed in surveillance areas
- Frequently lift/move up to 30lbs
- Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality
