Asset Management and Maintenance Technician (AMM Tech)

Job Summary
Assist public and private agencies with asset management activities including pavement condition assessments, storm drainage inspections, and maintenance response to natural disasters. Lead and manage projects by reading NCDOT contracts, interpreting instructions independently, and identifying problems for contractors and project managers. Operate tools of the trade, perform quality control tasks, and accurately measure quantities using basic math skills. Document project progress in Inspector's Daily Reports, setup pay records, and train subordinate technicians on these processes. Lead safety meetings, resolve field solutions with personnel and the public, and conform to federal, state, and local regulations while working outdoors 95% of the time.
Required Qualifications
- Must have the ability to lead and manage projects
- Must be able to read and understand NCDOT maintenance contracts and interpret for project team
- Must be able to successfully use tools of the trade needed for the specific project(s) and have the ability to train subordinates in their use
- Must obtain accurate measurements, report project progress information, and document in an Inspector's Daily Report (IDR) and train subordinate team members in this process
- Must be able to follow and carry out specific instructions on an independent basis
- Must possess basic math skills to compute quantities and costs
- Must be able to interpret and implement company mandated safety policies
- Must have an ability to operate a level and have an understanding of cut and fills and elevations for highway grades
- Must understand construction surveying procedures and principles
- Must have a valid driver's license in state of residence
- Two (2) year technical degree with Civil Engineering Technology or Surveying Technology with two (2) years of progressive transportation/construction technician experience, or high school diploma and four (4) years of transportation experience, or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience
- High School Diploma and one (1) years' experience in a related field
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds daily
- Travel via automobile on daily basis
- GFT does require the successful completion of a criminal background check for all advertised positions
