Job Summary
Assist with engineering assessments for new and existing systems while developing corrosion mitigation and inspection strategies for pipelines, plant equipment, and piping systems. Review and track Key Performance Indicators to ensure asset integrity targets are monitored, and provide materials engineering support to ongoing operations, maintenance, and new projects. Participate in metallurgical failure analysis of damaged components and perform data analysis to provide engineering recommendations for repair and mitigation. This student role supports the Asset Integrity team across Conventional, Thermal, and Oil Sands operations in Calgary or Fort McMurray, offering exposure to industry codes, risk-based decision-making, and collaboration with Field Integrity and Production Engineering teams.
Required Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in bachelor's degree program
- Materials Engineering preferred
- Mechanical Engineering acceptable
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Responsible attitude towards safety
- Demonstrate leadership
- Enjoy problem solving
- Possess a valid Class 5 Alberta driver's license or equivalent out of province license
- A pre-employment drug screening test must be successfully completed
- All candidates applying to Canadian Natural must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions
Desired Qualifications
- Previous integrity engineering related experience
- Field experience is considered an asset
- Experience with Power BI, Spotfire, SQL, or Python is considered an asset
