Job Summary
Assemble, weld, solder, and x-ray medical devices using microscopes and test equipment. Locate and correct problems by examining x-rays, performing visual inspections, and repairing units with computerized test gear. Examine molded assemblies to identify bubbles, nicks, or excess epoxy, then patch voids and cure epoxy patches. Perform mechanical assembly, bonding, and coating operations while inspecting components. Kit, assemble, and package devices and accessories, reviewing documentation for accuracy. Set up special test equipment and notify supervisors of supply needs or production difficulties. Maintain compliance with FDA regulations and Quality Management Systems. Work in a clean room environment under close supervision, rotating through assembly, repair, and packaging tasks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Typically six plus months of relevant training/experience in the assembly of digital/analog circuitry, devices, components or equivalent
- Demonstrated manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
- Must be able to use standard hand tools used in the assembly of bio-instruments/bio-devices
- Must be able to multi-task and rotate through all jobs performed in the assigned work group as needed
- Must also be able to meet deadlines on multiple projects
- Demonstrated spelling, punctuation, grammar, basic math/numerical, organizational skills, and a familiarity with standard manufacturing/office equipment and procedures
- The ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- The ability to successfully pass a reading comprehension pre-employment examination
- The demonstrated ability to understand and comply with applicable Food & Drug Administration (FDA) regulations and Company operating procedures, processes, policies and rules
- Must have the ability to on occasion lift up to approximately 25 pounds
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail
- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Regularly scheduled overtime is a requirement of this position
Desired Qualifications
- Some formal training in assembly techniques
- Experience with assembling manufactured items in a bioinstruments/bio-devices related facility
- Prior experience working in an air-conditioned clean room manufacturing environment requiring stringent environmental controls
- Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects
- Ability to work in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model
