Job Summary
Assemble heavy-duty wooden mats according to production specifications using hand and power tools to position, align, and secure wood components. Inspect lumber and finished products for defects, verify measurements, and report equipment or safety hazards to the supervisor. Install hardware such as bolts, rods, and nails while maintaining an organized work area and following all safety policies. Move, stack, and organize materials and completed products to meet daily productivity expectations. Work cooperatively with machine operators and supervisors in an industrial lumber-production environment.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read a tape measure and follow basic measurements and production instructions
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions
- Strong attention to quality and detail
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work effectively as part of a production team
- Willingness to learn different tasks within the Mats Department
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods
- Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, push, and pull
- Must be able to regularly lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to safely handle tools, hardware, lumber, and production materials
- Must be able to perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift
- Must be able to work around moving equipment and industrial machinery
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, safety-toe footwear, and other equipment as assigned
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required
- Previous experience in manufacturing, construction, lumber production, assembly, or a related field is preferred
- Experience using hand and power tools is helpful
