Job Summary
Provide engaging instruction to adult learners in High School Equivalency (HSE) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes, developing lessons aligned with Ohio Aspire standards. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse academic, language, and career goals while integrating workforce readiness, digital literacy, and employability skills. Assist students with resume development, interviewing skills, and identifying educational pathways, and administer assessments to monitor progress. Maintain accurate records using LACES and collaborate with staff, employers, and community organizations to promote student success. Foster an inclusive learning environment and assist with recruitment and retention efforts. This role reports to the Administrator of the Aspire Program and requires participation in professional development and Ohio Aspire training.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Adult Education, English, ESOL, Human Services, Workforce Development, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience)
- Experience teaching, training, coaching, or facilitating instruction with adult learners or diverse populations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer and technology skills
- Passion for helping adult learners achieve educational and career success
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills
- Ability to motivate, encourage, and support adult learners with diverse educational backgrounds
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual student needs
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, employers, colleges, and community partners
- Commitment to equity, lifelong learning, and continuous improvement
- United States citizens and aliens lawfully authorized to work in the United States
Desired Qualifications
- Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
- Teaching High School Equivalency (GED/HSE) preparation
- Knowledge of Ohio Aspire Adult Education programs
- Knowledge of Adult Workforce Diploma Program (AWDP), and other Ohio-recognized adult education credentials
- Experience using LACES or a comparable student information and attendance system
- Knowledge of Adult Assessments:TABE, CASAS, WorkKeys, Accuplacer
- Workforce development or career coaching experience
- Resume writing, interview preparation, and career pathway planning
- College and career readiness instruction
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse adult learners
