Job Summary
Operate asphalt roller to compact earth, subgrade, and sub-base asphalt surfaces for highways, streets, and parking lots. Perform pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections while adjusting vibration settings, water systems, and rolling speed based on mix design and material temperature. Coordinate machine actions with crew members using hand or audio signals and adhere to all safety rules and regulations. Wear proper PPE and be prepared for extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends in varying weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- 2 or more years of asphalt roller operator experience
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds continuously throughout the workday
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, and twist, throughout the workday
- This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces
- This position requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time and the constant use of hands and arms
- This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (e.g., glasses, contact lenses)
- Performing strenuous work for extended periods in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, and other inclement weather conditions
- Work may be performed in environments with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and moving equipment
- Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening
- Required to adhere to all safety rules and regulations
Desired Qualifications
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent desired
- Valid unrestricted driver's license with a good driving history preferred
- DCRA Operators license preferred
