Job Summary
Operates asphalt rollers to compact and smooth freshly laid asphalt on York, PA projects. Drives breakdown and finish rollers, monitors asphalt temperature, and uses overlapping passes to achieve the required compaction and smoothness. Coordinates with paving crew via hand/audio signals, conducts daily pre- and post-operation checks, and adheres to safety guidelines while maintaining awareness of surroundings. Responsibilities include adjusting machine settings based on mix design, thickness, and temperature, and assisting with setup/takedown and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of (2) years’ experience operating Breakdown Roller and Finish Rollers
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Understanding of compaction techniques, asphalt behavior, material properties, and temperature zones
- Ability to work outdoors in various conditions
- CDL is nice to have but not required; tanker endorsement is a plus
