Asphalt Paving Foreman

Job Summary

Supervise and coordinate paving crew activities, overseeing progress, equipment utilization, and proper maintenance while reporting repairs. Monitor material layout, placement, and compaction to ensure quality control, verifying measurements, slope, and thickness for compliance. Read work orders, plans, and contracts to relay instructions to the asphalt crew and operate paving equipment to facilitate alignment and adjustment. Calculate and order job materials as necessary. Maintain professional relationships with fellow foremen, superintendents, and external customers. Work independently in all weather conditions, including nights and weekends, with timely attendance. Valid driver's license and five years of paving experience required.

Required Qualifications

  • Five(5) years or more of proven paving and foreman experience
  • Supervisory and strong communication skills (verbal and written) as well as basic computer skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Timely and regular attendance
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions for extended periods of time, including nights and weekends as needed
  • Knowledge of asphalt paving construction, material, repair, and maintenance procedures and techniques
  • Knowledge of safety standards, regulations, and best construction practices
  • Knowledge of the operation of heavy highway construction and maintenance equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret maps, engineering drawings, and blueprints relative to road and bridge construction, maintenance, and repair
