Job Summary
The Asphalt Paver Operator will operate asphalt paving equipment to place asphalt on highways, roadways, and parking lots. Responsibilities include preparing and laying out the area to be paved, material ordering and pacing, performing daily equipment maintenance and safety checks, ensuring the paver is preheated and positioned for receiving asphalt from the dump truck, and guiding the paver while the dump truck dispenses material. Requires adherence to safety requirements, maintaining appropriate paving speed to minimize material waste, and wearing PPE. Role may include extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends. Must have 1+ years of asphalt paving experience, plus a valid unrestricted driver's license (DC Class 7B license preferred) and reliable transportation. High School diploma or GED or equivalent is desired. Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds and to follow directions from supervisors and crew members. Background and drug screening are required.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years asphalt paver operation experience
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent desired
- DC Class 7B Operators license required
- Valid unrestricted driver's license preferred
- Must have reliable transportation
- Ability to follow directions of the supervisor and other crew members
- Must be able to lift, spread, and move materials by hand or hand tools such as shovels
- Must be able to pass background and drug screening
- Safety-oriented attitude and PPE compliance
