Asphalt Groundsperson/Maintenance - 2nd Shift

Job Summary
Perform all work according to MSHA and H&K Safety policies while maintaining clean work areas including catwalks, walk-ways, and the general plant area. Conduct plant maintenance and proactively learn plant functions and operations to complete assigned tasks. Cross train to learn all jobs of the plant and be able to substitute when necessary, taking direction from and working in a team with all other site personnel. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, maintenance experience, and ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE. Night shift position for Dunmore Asphalt, a division of H&K Group, Inc., which provides premium asphalt products to the Lackawanna County, PA region.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution OR related experience and/or training
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
- Maintenance experience
- Must be available for night shift
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Depth perception
- Ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to talk or hear
- Must be able to stand and walk regularly
- Must be able to work in high, precarious places
- Must be able to work in moving mechanical parts
- Must be able to work in outside weather conditions
- Must be able to work with fumes or airborne particles
- Must be able to work with vibration
- Must be able to work with occasional risk of electrical shock
- Must be able to work in a loud noise level
- Must pass pre-employment drug testing
- Must pass pre-employment physical
Desired Qualifications
- 3+ months related experience
- Experience operating heavy equipment
- Strong preference for Loader operation experience
- Experience working in a quarry, heavy civil construction, or other outdoor industrial setting
- MSHA or other relevant safety certification
