Job Summary

Required Qualifications
- Zero to one year paid work experience performing general labor, construction, or related field (Asphalt Equipment Operator I)
- Basic knowledge of routine use and operation of maintenance equipment (Asphalt Equipment Operator I)
- Possession of a valid state driver's license or Utah driving privilege card (Asphalt Equipment Operator I)
- Possession of (or ability to obtain) a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Tanker endorsement within six months of hire (Asphalt Equipment Operator I)
- Possession of Flagger Certification (or the ability to obtain one) within one month of hire (Asphalt Equipment Operator I)
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations (Asphalt Equipment Operator I)
- Two years' related work experience including equipment operation in general labor, construction, or related field or completion of division’s training program plus 6 months of experience (Asphalt Equipment Operator II)
- Knowledge of generally accepted procedures and materials used in asphalt maintenance and construction (Asphalt Equipment Operator II)
- Knowledge of routine preventative maintenance required for the equipment and ability to detect the need for and to make minor repairs (Asphalt Equipment Operator II)
- Possession of Class A CDL with a Tanker endorsement or Class B CDL with ability to obtain Class A with endorsement within 3 months of starting (Asphalt Equipment Operator II)
- Possession of Flagger Certification or ability to obtain within one month of hire (Asphalt Equipment Operator II)
- Ability to operate electronic input devices (Asphalt Equipment Operator II)
- Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations (Asphalt Equipment Operator II)
- Ability to work with co-workers, supervisors and general public in varying circumstances (Asphalt Equipment Operator II)
