Job Summary
Provide sign language interpretation for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in classrooms, small groups, and school-related settings. Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers while adapting styles to match individual language levels and needs. Interpret instructional content, discussions, meetings, and activities, and collaborate with support staff to ensure effective access. Maintain confidentiality, adhere to professional ethics, assist in promoting student independence, and keep accurate documentation. Stay current with best practices in educational interpreting. Requires RID or equivalent certification, South Carolina Educational Interpreter credential, and fluency in ASL. Hourly rate ranges from $38.00 to $52.00.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Associate's Degree
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Fingerprint Clearance & Background Check
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent
