Job Summary
Provide sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting for deaf and hard-of-hearing staff and members across psychiatric evaluations, clinical meetings, family sessions, and trainings. Travel to off-site assignments and maintain flexibility for last-minute requests. Communicate with operations regarding unfilled assignments and complaints to uphold program standards. Serve as a resource for staff communication access training and maintain accurate billing records. Manage safe crisis situations involving agitated consumers without physical restraints and adhere to the NAD Code of Professional Conduct. Provide emergency communication access as necessary and participate in quality assurance activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Interpreting
- Bachelor's degree in another field
- Associates degree in Interpreting
- Associates degree in any field
- At least one year interpreting experience with deaf individuals with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities
- At least three years interpreting experience with deaf individuals with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities
- Current CSC, CT/CI, NIC from RID
- Current Level III from NAD
- Current registration as a Sign Language Interpreter with the Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing with the Department of Labor and Industry
- Ability to be physically mobile
- Ability to physically assist with evacuating members during emergency situations
- Must possess vision/hearing senses, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must obtain Certification (CSC, CT/CI, NIC from RID, or Level III from NAD) within the one year of employment
