Job Summary
Manage direct ministry through contact work, club leadership, and summer camping strategy while leading teams in spiritual development and outreach. Execute fundraising events, donor care, and resource development to fuel the mission. Oversee administrative duties including financial stewardship, data management, and strategic planning. Maintain accurate records for kids, leaders, and donors while adhering to all organizational policies and professional conduct standards. Complete required mission-wide training and engage in regional and area-specific development programs. This part-time role supports the Christian mission of evangelism and discipleship within the Young Life community.
Required Qualifications
- Must have completed Core Training —Phase One
- Must have 1 or more clubs
- Experience in direct ministry
- Proven relational skills with both kids and adults
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord
- Must subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith
- Must be ready, willing and able to fulfill such ministry functions as may be required by the organization
- Must refrain from conduct and statements that detract from the biblical standards taught and supported by Young Life
- Must abide by all policies and practices of Young Life including, without limitation, those related to religious belief or ministry activities
- Must have completed Leadership I and II as a Staff Associate
- Must serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year
- Must actively engage in all three levels of contact work
- Must lead a team to plan and implement a regular outreach meeting with excellence
- Must lead Campaigners meetings with excellence as assigned by the area director
- Must lead a team to implement a summer and school-season camping strategy for a ministry
- Must adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures
- Must maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct and time management
- Must manage finances with stewardship, accountability and transparency using the mission-wide applications
- Must set yearly ministry and personal goals and objectives; review them on a regular basis
- Must maintain accurate information on kids, leaders and donors for area records
- Must provide clear, prompt, appropriate and professional communication to everyone involved in ministry
- Must actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community
- Must develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life, including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer and Scripture reading
- Must meet with your volunteer leaders on a regular basis
- Must learn principles of leadership and recruitment and training of new leaders to build a leadership team that reflects the makeup of the community
- Must model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners and camping to other leaders
- Must attend and be involved with area leadership as assigned
- Must assist in training leaders and committee how to work effectively in teams
- Must train and lead a team in developing a yearly ministry strategy
- Must raise financial support as directed and maintain good donor care practices
- Must communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners
- Must observe and learn principles to develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community
- Must learn to plan and execute area fundraising events under the direction of an area supervisor
- Must become a respected Young Life steward to the community for both kids and adults
- Must attend committee and adult functions as necessary and assigned
- Must actively engage in training provided by the regional director
- Must actively engage in training provided by area leadership
- Must develop personal spiritual maturity and enhance personal character
- Must gain competency in ministry skills (e.g., the five C's)
- Must become familiar with area strategy and ministry health as assigned by the area director
- Must research community and school demographics to assess ministry effectiveness and support the area's effort in reaching Every Kid
- Must complete at least two years as a Staff Associate
