Asheville In-Cell Inspector (2nd Shift)

Job Summary

Inspect complex rotating jet engine components using precision CNC and conventional equipment in a clean, temperature-controlled environment. Set up and run CMM programs from start to finish, utilizing precise measuring tools to verify hardware against tight tolerances and fine finishes. Diagnose and resolve common or complex inspection issues autonomously, while providing Operator Characteristic Verification Process support and assisting with new hire training. Identify and implement process improvement opportunities focused on safety, quality, and cost within the Level 2 Asheville Inspector team.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Ability to prove status of a U.S. Person (U.S. lawful permanent resident, U.S. Citizen, asylee, or refugee)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen
  • Ability to be subject to random and reasonable-suspicion drug and alcohol testing
  • Proficiency with machine software and controls required for the current role
  • Proficiency with all gages needed for current job
  • Cross-trained on all inspection equipment required within the work area
  • Demonstrates proficiency with all inspection equipment used in the QA lab
  • Provides Operator Characteristic Verification Process (CVP) support or performs operator CVPs as required
  • Able to diagnose and resolve common problems and occasionally some complex issues independently
  • Can identify and fix both basic and more advanced issues autonomously
  • Knows who to contact when there is an issue they cannot address (i.e. Non Conformance Record, Oracle, Outside Service Provider hold, eAndon, GE Operating System)
  • Ensures adherence to quality and precision standards through the inspection of parts and identification of quality issues and / or defects
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to utilize proper tools, gages, and material handling techniques
  • Follows defect procedures and instructions to save parts from being scrapped, where and when applicable
  • Able to offer process, and quality-related advice and /or informal training to less experienced peers and/or operators
  • Develops and builds upon individual capabilities via mentors, trainers, and on-the-job experiences while beginning to develop the skills needed for more formal supervisory responsibility
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Under moderate, direct supervision, can make routine decisions within defined parameters
  • Able to operate autonomously when conducting certain machining operations or tasks
  • Follows step-by-step instructions and processes, whether documented or from their, trainer, or supervisor
  • Must be available for weekend shifts
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs
