Job Summary
ASE Technician position at VIP Automotive in Bangor, ME. Responsible for diagnostic and repair services across ASE-certified automotive systems (engine, transmission, drive train, suspension, brakes, electrical/electronic, HVAC, and performance). Maintains service work orders, completes MPI, adheres to safety and quality standards, and achieves productivity targets. Required to obtain ASE certifications (G1, A4, A5; or higher as role evolves), state inspection license, and relevant automotive certifications. Standard 5-day, 40-hour work week; non-exempt hourly position. Training includes LMS courses, safe equipment operation, and VIP process adherence. Eligible candidates should have minimum one year of related automotive service experience, with a preferred associate degree or technical program completion.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities to read, analyze, and interpret technical instructions, journal and procedures, or governmental regulations
- Diagnose and recommend solutions to basic automotive problems
- Effectively explain vehicle information to customers
- Interpret, understand, and apply instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Possess a valid driver’s license and ASE certifications as listed
- State Inspection License
- ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended
- ASE Certification A4 – Suspension & Steering
- ASE Certification A5 – Brakes
- Two-year college or technical school program recommended
- Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to perform automotive services listed above
- ASE Technician: G1, A4 and A5 as applicable
- Master Technician: All eight A-Series A1 thru A8 as applicable
Desired Qualifications
- One year of related experience in automotive service field
- Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended
- ASE Certification A4 – Suspension & Steering
- ASE Certification A5 – Brakes
- State Inspection License
- Current, valid driver’s license issued in state of residence
- Equipment Safety Certification
- Ability to diagnose and explain vehicle information to customers
- Understanding of ASE series certifications (A1–A8)
- Passion for safety and quality workmanship
