Job Summary
ASE Technician responsible for diagnosing and repairing automotive systems across ASE-listed areas (A1 Engine Repair, A2 Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, A3 Manual Drive Train & Axles, A4 Suspension & Steering, A5 Brakes, A6 Electrical/Electronic Systems, A7 Heating & A/C, A8 Engine Performance); perform safe servicing, complete service work orders, MPI, 5-for-5 Customer Engagement, maintain safety, and pursue required training and ASE certifications; maintain shop standards, part handling, and reporting, with focus on safety, quality, and regulatory compliance; expected to achieve productivity targets and maintain vehicle inspection capabilities where required; standard work week is 5 days, 40 hours, with hourly pay.
Required Qualifications
- One year of related experience in automotive service field
- Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended
- Current, valid driver’s license issued in state of residence
- Equipment Safety Certification
- ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended
- ASE Certification A4 – Suspension & Steering
- ASE Certification A5 – Brakes
- State Inspection License
- Read, analyze, and interpret technical instructions, journal and procedures, or governmental regulations
- Explain vehicle information to customers, present and respond to questions from coworkers
- Diagnose and recommend solutions to basic automotive problems
- Interpret, understand, and apply instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to successfully perform required types of automotive services listed above
- Become a Licensed State Vehicle Inspector (state-specific requirement)
- Become T.I.A basic automotive tire service (BATS) certified and T.I.A. advanced TPMS certified
- Become ASE certified based on position (G1, A4, A5; or four of the A-Series for ASE Technician; all eight A-Series for Master Technician)
- Attend meetings and training sessions as needed
