Job Summary
Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and services for in-house fleet vehicles, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake work, and electrical diagnostics. Use schematics and diagnostic tools to identify issues, operate specialized equipment, and perform inspections to ensure safety standards. Explain technical diagnoses to non-mechanical individuals and stay current with automotive technology through continuous paid training. Assist technicians in performing technical activities while maintaining a clean driving record. Maintain a Secret security clearance and possess strong mechanical troubleshooting skills to meet NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center contract requirements at Edwards AFB and Palmdale.
Required Qualifications
- A.S.E. certification in at least one of A1-A8 (L1 certification acceptable)
- Must have a valid automobile driver's license at all times and be able to drive customer and company vehicles
- Proven experience as a Mechanic
- Strong mechanical knowledge and troubleshooting skills
- Proficient in using power tools and diagnostic equipment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Skilled in general automotive maintenance
- Current federal, state and local certification/license where applicable
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical people
- Reading, writing, and math skills
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including being on your feet most of the day and lifting requirements
- Ability to be trained and certified for position requirements
Desired Qualifications
- 3 years of automotive repair experience, demonstrated skills via third party assessments/certifications, or completion of Vocational-Technical School Program
- Must have clean driving record
- Ability to obtain and retain a Secret security clearance
- Must be able to clearly read, write, speak, and comprehend English
