Job Summary
Under teacher direction, provide instructional and social-emotional/behavior accommodations and interventions while assisting students with health, medical, or physical needs. Support teams in implementing positive behavior support plans, emergency interventions, and data collection. Respect individual student strengths, maintain confidentiality, and actively support district norms by engaging parents, staff, and administrators. Perform duties with awareness of district policies, including sustained periods of sitting, standing, and walking with lifting up to 40 pounds. Work 28 hours per week with insurance benefits and 40 hours of sick time.
Required Qualifications
- At least two years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours)
- An associate's degree (or higher)
- Demonstrate, through passage of an approved formal state academic assessment in the following areas: Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate
- Experience in the school setting, preferred
- Ability to read and understand instructional materials present to students
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with all students, staff and school community
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district and BOE policies
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the community, regulatory agencies or staff members
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and ledgers
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Position requires sustained periods of sitting and working on computer and office equipment
- Position requires standing and walking throughout buildings
- Position involves frequent lifting up to 20 pounds and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds
- Position involves listening, speaking clearly and visual acuity
- Position involves frequent repetitive action on a keyboard
